AnaMark

AnaMark: The Legendary Analog VST Synthesizer

The world of music production is constantly evolving, offering new tools for creativity. However, some plugins remain relevant for years due to their unique sound and flexibility. One such plugin is AnaMark by Mark Henning – a virtual analog synthesizer that has gained recognition among musicians for its rich timbres and deep sound design capabilities. Designed as a 3-oscillator beast, AnaMark offers an arsenal of features that allow you to create both classic analog sounds and experimental, completely new timbres. It’s not just another synthesizer; it’s a tool that invites you to explore soundscapes, limited only by your imagination. Thanks to its power and intuitive interface, AnaMark will be a valuable addition to any studio, regardless of your music style – from warm vintage analog to sharp modern electronic sound.

The Heart of Sound: Oscillators and Synthesis

The foundation of AnaMark’s sound is three powerful oscillators, each of which can be deeply modulated. They don’t just reproduce standard waveforms; each oscillator can use one of 52 basic forms or combine two of them simultaneously. This opens the way to create over 2000 unique basic waveforms for each oscillator, which in itself is an extraordinary opportunity for sound design. But AnaMark goes further, offering 21 diverse types of synthesis. Among them you will find:

  • Additive synthesis
  • Ring Modulation
  • Frequency Modulation (FM)
  • Cross Frequency Modulation (XFM)
  • Phase Modulation (PM)
  • And many other types that allow you to shape the sound from basic to extremely complex.

The oscillators are also equipped with feedback and oversampling functions, which ensures the clarity and richness of the sound even when using intensive modulation and complex waveforms. The advanced Waveshaper module gives even more control over the harmonic content of the signal, allowing you to literally “sculpt” the desired timbre.

Timbre Shaping: Filters and Resonator

After the sound is generated by the oscillators, the signal goes to the filter section – a critical element of any synthesizer. AnaMark offers 8 filter types, each of which can also be modulated to create dynamic and live timbres. Classic filter types are available:

  • Lowpass filter
  • Highpass filter
  • Notch filter
  • And others that allow you to precisely cut off or amplify the desired sections of the frequency spectrum.

In addition, AnaMark has a unique feature – a filter-independent resonator. This module works in parallel with the main filters and allows you to add resonant characteristics to the sound, creating effects similar to modeling acoustic instruments or adding a specific “metallic” shade, without affecting the overall frequency response set by the main filter. This expands the sound palette and allows you to achieve truly original results.

Powerful Modulation Capabilities

Modulation is what brings the sound of a synthesizer to life, and AnaMark offers an extremely flexible modulation system. You can use a variety of sources to control almost any plugin parameter. The main modulation sources include:

  • Highly flexible LFO (low-frequency oscillator)
  • Envelopes – for controlling the dynamics and development of the sound over time
  • Combiners – for combining and processing modulation signals
  • MIDI events – such as Velocity (key press force), note number, MIDI controllers (CC), Aftertouch (pressure after pressing)
  • Random sources – to create unpredictable and interesting sound variations.

This advanced modulation system allows you to create complex, moving timbres that respond to your playing and automation, making AnaMark an extremely expressive instrument.

Built-in Effects and Features

To add volume, space, and character to the sound, AnaMark is equipped with an effects section that includes 11 different types. You can use two effects at the same time, which can be connected in series to create complex processing chains. Among the available effects:

  • Time effects: Delay and Reverb – to create space and echo
  • Modulation effects: Chorus, Flanger, Phaser – for adding movement and stereo width
  • Equalizer (EQ) – for final timbre correction.

In addition to the effects, AnaMark has a HighQuality function, which probably improves the quality of signal processing, providing an even clearer and denser sound. All time-related parameters (e.g., LFO speed or effect delay time) can be either fixed or synchronized with the tempo of your music project in the DAW via MIDI. This is extremely convenient for creating rhythmic modulations and effects.

Flexibility and Ease of Use

AnaMark is designed with the musician’s convenience in mind. It is polyphonic with the possibility of up to 16 voices, and also supports monophonic mode for classic lead parts or bass lines. In addition, the synthesizer is a four-part multitimbral (with the ability to switch to mono-timbral mode), which allows you to use several different AnaMark sounds simultaneously on different MIDI channels, creating layered textures or full arrangements within a single instance of the plugin.

For quick start and inspiration, 545 factory presets are available, demonstrating the wide range of AnaMark’s capabilities – from classic pads and basses to experimental soundscapes. And if you are looking for something really new, the random preset generation function will help you create unique timbres with one click.

The plugin also supports advanced tuning capabilities (micro tuning) through Scala files, custom tuning files and MIDI SysEx, which makes it suitable for use in a variety of musical cultures and genres that require non-standard tunings. Pitch-bending and Portamento functions are standard for synthesizers and are implemented in AnaMark for expressive playing. Finally, the plugin is fully skinnable, which allows you to customize its appearance according to your preferences or the overall style of your DAW.

Important Installation Information

Please pay attention to the installation process of AnaMark. For correct operation, you must first run the InstallAnaMark225cPart2.exe file. During this process, the installation program will ask you for the location of the AnaMark.dll file. This file is located in a separate AnaMark_dll folder, which will likely be included in the downloaded archive. Make sure you specify the correct path to this file in the installation program.

AnaMark is a multifunctional and powerful virtual analog synthesizer that offers impressive sound design depth due to flexible oscillators, various types of synthesis, modulated filters, a resonator and a wide modulation system. Built-in effects, the possibility of multitimbral use, and support for microtuning make it a versatile tool for both studio work and live performances. Try AnaMark and discover new sound horizons!
