Synlay: A Unique Delay-Based Synthesizer
Synlay by Elena Design isn’t just another synthesizer; it’s a true experimental playground for the sound designer who strives to create something unique and unparalleled. This instrument uses an original synthesis concept based on delay modules, allowing for the generation of extremely diverse and high-quality timbres.
Forget about standard waveforms. Synlay opens new horizons in the world of sound, offering a palette that ranges from brass instruments to orchestral sections, from deep basses to plucked strings, from violins to brass and completely unique synthetic textures. It’s the ideal tool for those seeking fresh sounds for their music projects.
Key Features and Technologies
At the heart of Synlay is its innovative architecture. The plugin is equipped with three parallel, independent Tuned-Delay modules. These modules have a feedback damping function, providing exceptional control over sound decay. With a 16-voice polyphony, you can create complex chords and textures without limitations.
The special option Autoscale-feedbacks-with-pitch ensures that all notes have the same decay time regardless of their pitch, which is extremely useful for achieving even sound.
Stereo Processing and Filtering
Synlay stands out with its true stereo signal processing and the presence of a stereo noise source. This allows for creating naturally wide stereophonic sounds directly within the plugin, often eliminating the need for additional space or reverb effects. You get a deep and immersive sound from the very beginning.
For the noise source, a special resonant multi-mode filter is provided, which can have up to 8 cascades. This filter offers advanced control options, responding to Velocity, Aftertouch, Keyboard Scale, and Keyboard Follow. This allows for integrating dynamic and expressive elements into your sounds.
Technical Details and Innovations
One of the outstanding advantages of Synlay is its 100% absence of clicks. Unlike some similar synthesizers that can generate unwanted artifacts, Synlay uses special custom code for the delay module, developed by the author, which ensures an extremely clean output signal.
The plugin also includes an additional amplitude envelope after the delay modules, which gives an additional level of control over the dynamics of your sound.
Expressiveness and Control
Synlay offers advanced support for Velocity and Aftertouch, making it extremely sensitive to performance dynamics. This allows musicians to bring more expression into their playing.
For guitarists and keyboardists who use bends, there is an option to apply Pitch Bend only to the highest note in a chord, which is convenient for imitating certain performance techniques.
In addition, the plugin supports advanced polyphonic Glide mode, allowing you to create smooth transitions between notes in a polyphonic manner.
Availability and Format
Synlay is available as donationware, which means you can use it for free, but the author requests a donation to support development. It’s worth noting that without a donation, the plugin may display a message (nagscreen).
The plugin supports popular formats:
- VST
- AU (Audio Units)
Compatibility with operating systems:
