The Supertone plugin is based on samples of a real Supertone reed organ, found by the author at a local “flea market”. Like many vintage instruments, this organ “had seen better days”, and it is these imperfections and traces of time that give its sound a unique charm and authenticity. Les Productions Zvon carefully captured this unique character, transforming it into a convenient digital instrument.

Sampling and Sound
The sampling process for Supertone was meticulous, although the plugin version is somewhat simplified compared to the full commercial sample set. In the original sample set, each of the 25 keys (from C3 to C5) was recorded separately. For the Supertone plugin, the author selected 5 key samples, which are distributed over approximately 5 adjacent keys each. This is done to optimize the size and resources while maintaining excellent playability.
Despite the smaller number of individual samples, Supertone remains very expressive and pleasant to use. The samples were recorded using a standard microphone (without using additional microphones, as in the full library, for example, a shotgun). It is important to note that the samples were carefully cleaned of excessive fan noise, which is characteristic of many reed organs, while preserving the original timbre. The sounds of starting or running the fan are not included in this VSTi, focusing exclusively on musical notes.
The result is a warm, slightly vintage sound that is perfect for creating atmospheric parts, melodies in the style of indie, folk, lo-fi, ambient or anywhere where a characteristic, organic timbre is needed.
