TSE X50: Legendary Metal Tone in Your DAW
Are you looking for that crushing guitar sound that defined the metal era? Do you dream of a powerful, dense and aggressive tone capable of cutting through any mix? Meet TSE X50 – an outstanding digital emulation of one of the most famous American guitar amplifiers that has become an icon of heavy music!
Developed with meticulous attention to detail by Jon Adrian Johansen (onQel), TSE X50 doesn’t just copy the sound – it recreates the character, dynamics and feel of the original device. This plugin will become your secret weapon for creating impressive guitar parts, from classic thrash to modern djent.
Two Amps in One Plugin
TSE X50 models not one, but two versions of the legendary “red” channel, since there were two slightly different versions of the amplifier in the history of the original. You can switch between MK1 and MK2 modes of the “red” channel, exploring their nuances and choosing the one that best suits your idea. In addition, the “green” channel is available, modeled on the first revision of the original device. This combination of channels gives incredible flexibility in shaping your signature sound.
Full Tone Control
The plugin provides a full set of controls that allow you to finely tune every aspect of your guitar sound. From input sensitivity to the choice of tubes in the power amplifier – TSE X50 gives you control over the tone:
- Input Level: Control the guitar input signal level. A value of 1.0 corresponds to +0dB, and 2.0 – +6dB. Precise adjustment of the input level is key to achieving the correct preamp saturation.
- Output Level: Adjust the overall output level of the plugin.
- PreGain: The main gain control of the preamp section. This is your main tool for adding distortion and dirt. Higher PreGain – more aggressive tone.
- Low, Mid, High: Classic three-band equalization (tone stack) that allows you to shape the frequency balance of your sound. Adjust the lows for density, the mids for presence, and the highs for transparency.
- PostGain: The volume control of the power amplifier section. It also affects the saturation and compression of the power amplifier at high values.
- LowEnd: Add or remove resonance in the low frequency range (around 70 Hz), simulating the interaction of the amplifier with the cabinet. This is a critical parameter for getting a “fat” metal riff.
- Presence: Control the amount of presence in the range of 1 kHz and above. This control adds brightness and “air” to your sound, helping it stand out in the mix.
- Red Ch. Mode switch: Switch between emulations of MK1 and MK2 versions of the “red” channel. Each mode has its own unique distortion character.
- PreAmp switch: Bypass the preamp section. Useful if you want to use another preamp or subject the signal to processing only with the power amplifier.
- PowerAmp switch: Bypass the power amplifier section. Allows you to use only the TSE X50 preamp emulation before another power amplifier or cabinet impulse.
- PowerTubes switch: Choose between 6L6GC and EL34 tube emulations in the power amplifier section. These two types of tubes have significantly different sound characteristics, adding another level of flexibility.
- Quality switch: Switch the processing quality. The ‘HI’ mode minimizes additional aliasing artifacts for the cleanest possible sound.
- Stereo switch: Enables stereo processing mode. Note that for correct operation, the left and right channel signals must be hard-panned before processing with this plugin (for example, using an IR-loader or channel routing) to avoid crosstalk.
Created For Metal
TSE X50 is not a universal amplifier. It is created with a single goal: to provide the best possible tone for metal. Its characteristic aggressive distortion, dense lows and piercing highs make it an ideal choice for riffs, solos and anything that requires serious sound power.
