The Drive control adjusts the intensity of saturation: from the classic “warm” effect (Drive 0dB) to more intense harmonic addition. To compensate for the loss of low frequencies, a simple Bass Boost is provided, which preserves the foundation of the sound.
Using saturation with TSClip opens up many possibilities: adding tube warmth to vocals, making bass guitar assertive, “gluing” a drum group, or adding sparkle to synthesizers. Saturation does not simply increase the volume, it changes the timbre and dynamics, giving the sound life and character.
Clipping for Maximum Loudness
After saturation, the signal enters the clipper section – a tool for precise peak control and achieving maximum loudness. Clipping “cuts off” peaks that exceed the Peak Limit. This reduces the dynamic range without a “pumping” effect, useful for taming sharp transients on drums or percussion. The Peak Limit control allows you to set an exact threshold.
The feature of the clipper is an optional Makeup switch. When activated, the output level is amplified to 0dB after clipping, which is convenient for quickly achieving maximum loudness at the final stage. Visual feedback is provided by flashing indicators that help monitor the intensity of clipping and avoid digital distortion.
