- L&H (Low & High): The “Low & High” mode uses a crossover to split the signal by frequency. This is a classic tool for multi-band processing, but in TheSplit’s implementation, it becomes extremely flexible. Separate the bass and drums from the rest of the mix, process them with compression or saturation separately, and then bring them together to achieve the perfect balance.
- A&S (Attack & Sustain): The “Attack & Sustain” mode uses a transient splitter to split the audio signal in the time domain. You can separate the sharp initial sounds (attack) from their long decay (sustain). This is extremely useful for working with percussion, piano, guitars, and any instruments where transient dynamics matter. Boost the attack for more punch or process the sustain with reverb to create atmosphere – the possibilities are endless.
- L&S (Loud & Soft): The “Loud & Soft” mode uses a gate to split the signal by amplitude. This mode allows you to isolate the loudest parts of the signal from the quieter ones. This can be useful for creative processing, such as applying effects only to the loudest drum hits or creating interesting rhythmic patterns.
