Spectror

Spectror by novaflash: An Unorthodox Approach to Spectral Processing

Discover Spectror by novaflash – a plugin that revolutionizes the way you think about sound processing! Forget conventional tools based on the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Spectror offers a unique, analog-inspired approach to spectral manipulation, opening doors to unexpected soundscapes and experimental sound design. This tool doesn’t just process the spectrum – it lets you sculpt it, modulate it, and transform it with unprecedented flexibility and a special analog charm.

The Heart of Spectror: Analog Emulation and Unique Architecture

Unlike traditional VST instruments and effects that work with the spectrum by analyzing FFT, Spectror emulates the behavior of analog equipment. At its core is a single-band architecture: Band Pass Filter (BPF) -> Peak Follower -> VCO / VCA. This sequence of elements allows Spectror to analyze the input mono signal and synthesize the output stereo signal, creating a unique interaction between the dynamics of the input signal and the synthesis parameters.

This approach gives the plugin a special character and unpredictability, often associated with vintage analog equipment. It allows you to create sounds that are difficult or impossible to achieve using ordinary digital spectral processing methods.

Deep Modulation and Control Capabilities

Spectror provides the user with an impressive set of tools for modulation and dynamic control over sound. At your service:

  • Four independent LFOs: Operate in three speed modes (BPM, BPM Host, Hz). The STEPS parameter adds step modulation.

  • Random Sources: Offer Noise, S&H, Spring algorithms with adjustable density (RATE) and smoothing (PARAM). Ideal for unpredictable textures.

  • Modulation Matrix: A flexible routing system that allows you to direct signals from LFOs, Random, and other modulation sources to any parameter. All input signals are positive.

  • VCO Section: Controls the oscillator parameters for each band.

    • Waveform Shape: Waveform.

    • Shift: Global frequency shift (%).

    • REL: Global decay length (%).

    • BW: Global bandwidth.

    • Pattern/Presets: 16 memory slots.

    • Pattern/Time: Transition time between patterns (ms).

    • Pattern/Scan: Delay between bands during modulation.

Built-in Effects for Final Sound Shaping

For additional modeling and processing of the output signal:

  • Filter (VCF): 24 dB/octave. Types: LP, HP, BP. CUT (cutoff frequency) and RES (resonance) parameters for tone shaping.

  • Delay: Adds space, echo, and atmospheric textures.

Spectror by novaflash is a powerful tool for experimenting with sound, creating unique textures and effects. Its analog philosophy and deep modulation capabilities make it valuable for any sound designer, musician, or producer looking for fresh sound solutions.

The plugin works as a VST effect on Windows operating systems (32-bit).
