Naive LPF: Filter with Classic Sound
Discover the magic of classic filtering with Naive LPF from Admiral Quality. This plugin is not just another filter, but a powerful tool that can add warmth, character, and unique dynamics to your tracks, emulating the sound of vintage analog circuits.
What is Naive LPF?
Naive LPF is a high-quality resonant low-pass and high-pass filter. Its main feature is its extremely convincing “classic” sound. This means that the plugin does not simply cut off frequencies, but does so with a pleasant analog coloring, adding harmonics and a characteristic resonance that is so valued in electronic music, dub, techno, house, and many other genres where filtering is a key element of sound design.
The plugin allows you to flexibly shape the timbre of any sound – from rich bass parts and atmospheric pads to dynamic percussive loops and vocal parts. You can use it to create “wah-wah” effects, smoothly open or close the sound, form “sweeps” before a transition, or simply for fine timbre correction, giving it a vintage feel.
Key Features and Capabilities
Naive LPF stands out among other filters thanks to its set of features aimed at maximum expressiveness and control:
- Resonant Filter: Allows you to emphasize the cutoff frequency, creating a characteristic “hissing” or “ringing” sound, which is a hallmark of many classic synthesizers and effects. Resonance can be used subtly to add presence, or extremely to achieve powerful sound effects.
- Low-pass and High-pass Filtering: The ability to work as a low-pass filter (LPF) to smooth out highs, and a high-pass filter (HPF) to remove unwanted “rumble” or create a “telephone voice” effect.
- Convincing Classic Sound: The developers of Admiral Quality have paid special attention to modeling the behavior of analog circuits, thanks to which the plugin sounds lively and musical, not sterile, like some digital filters.
- Separate Envelope Follower for Each of 6 Channels: This is an extremely powerful feature! It allows you to dynamically control the filter parameters (e.g., cutoff frequency or resonance) depending on the volume or amplitude of the input signal for each of the six independent channels. This opens the door to complex sound design, multi-channel processing, and creating sound-responsive effects, especially when working with multi-channel audio or complex mixes.
- Full Automation and MIDI CC Control: All parameters of Naive LPF can be fully automated in your DAW, which allows you to create complex and detailed sound changes during the track. MIDI CC support allows you to control the plugin parameters from hardware controllers, which makes the work process more intuitive and expressive, especially during live performances.
- Joystick Control Support: A unique feature to control the plugin parameters using a joystick, which can be an interesting solution for experimental sound design or specific usage scenarios.
Technical Details
Naive LPF is available in VST format for the Windows operating system (Win32). This ensures compatibility with most popular digital audio workstations (DAWs) on this platform that support 32-bit VST plugins. Despite the fact that this is a 32-bit version, it can be used in 64-bit DAWs using bridges.
The plugin is an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced producers and sound engineers who are looking for a quality filter with an analog character and advanced control capabilities, in particular, unique multi-channel dynamic filtering.
Add Naive LPF to your arsenal of plugins to give your tracks a classic vintage charm and dynamic expressiveness!
