Face Bender

Immerse yourself in the world of vintage guitar sound with the Face Bender plugin from Distorque! This is a masterful emulation of two iconic effects pedals: the legendary Fuzz Face and the classic Tone Bender MKII. Get access to a rich, historical palette of fuzz and distortion right in your digital audio workstation.

Fuzz and Distortion Legends: Fuzz Face and Tone Bender MKII

Fuzz Face: Launched by Arbiter Electronics in 1966, this pedal gave the world a thick, “fuzzy” distortion that became the hallmark of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and David Gilmour. Known for its dynamics: the guitar’s volume controls the degree of “cleaning” of the sound.

Tone Bender MKII: From Sola Sound (1966) – this is a brighter, more aggressive and saturated tone compared to the Fuzz Face. The choice of many who sought a more “daring” character of distortion.

Face Bender combines these effects, allowing you to quickly switch between them and discover new sound horizons.

Face Bender Control Features

The plugin offers convenient controls for quick access and deep customization.

Main Elements

  • Effect On/Bypass: Turns the effect on/off.
  • Tweak: Switch to advanced settings. Settings in the Tweak menu for Fuzz Face and Tone Bender are independent.
  • Mono/Stereo: Select the operating mode.
  • LQ/HQ: Quality modes (Low Quality / High Quality with 2x oversampling). HQ is more realistic, but requires more CPU.
  • Master Volume: Overall volume.
  • Effect Type: Switch Fuzz Face / Tone Bender.

Emulation Controls

  • Fuzz Face: Volume (output volume), Fuzz (distortion level).
  • Tone Bender: Volume (output volume), Attack (distortion level).

Advanced Settings (Tweak Menus)

For fine-tuning the sound:

  • Input Level: Input signal level.
  • Input Filter: The degree of filtering at the input (affects the brightness). Reducing the Level and Filter simulates “cleaning” the Fuzz Face.
  • Gate: Changes the bias to create “gated” or “spitting” fuzz sounds.
  • Clean Blend: Blending the clean signal.
  • Lo Cut: Controls the low frequencies at the input.
  • Hi Cut: Controls the high frequencies at the output.

Technical Information

Face Bender is available in VST format for Windows (32/64 bit). Supports mono/stereo and quality modes for flexible use.

Face Bender from Distorque is your key to authentic vintage fuzz and distortion tones, as well as a powerful tool for creating a unique sound. Try it and discover new facets of your guitar sound!
